what is the minimum age to own a car in Florida?

Is there an age requirement on owning a car?

Someone mentioned to me that my 16 year old cannot own a car in florida, but I don't think it matters what age you are.

A minor cannot technically own any property in his/her own name. Anything "owned" by the minor is actually the property of the legal guardian until the child reaches 18. You can put the car in the minor's name (if they let you), but he/she wouldn't actually own it until age 18.

You can title a car under the age of 18 in Florida. They cannot contract to purchase a vehicle or undertake a vehicle loan under age 18 in any state, because doing so is illegal for minors.

You're right, you can own a car at any age.

Ownership of an automobile is not restricted by age; operation of the automobile is.

Most rental companies require you to be 25. Some may rent to someone over 21 for an additional fee.
