Those kids are awesome......Sometimes I totally feel smarter than the contestants...and then there are those times when I KNOW that I KNOW the answer and just can't access the part of my brain that has the info in it.
I don't feel to bad about those times....because I try to remember that sometimes those 5th graders just had that homework last night and it's been WAYYYYYY to many, many years since I had to think about those questions. I have CRS sometimes
Can't
Remember
S**t
aka SELECTIVE MEMORY
Good question.................

For the most part. I cant believe that some of the contestants dont know the very basic things. I like Jeff Foxworthy and I enjoy seeing the kids and their abundance of enthusiasm. I've been a contestant on some shows and know it's not the same as sitting at home, but still-I hope I'd be smarter than a 5th grader.

I think I'm smarter than most contestants. I'm also smarter than the 5th graders were in my day, but not smarter than the 5th graders on the show. In fact, when I watch it, I'm amazed at some of the so-called first grade questions.
There as a question the other night: Who was George Washington's Secretary of State? I went to good public schools, but don't ever remember studying Cabinet positions, expecially in elementary school. I knew the answer based on life experiences, not what I learned in grade school. (Actually, there were 3 Secy of State under Washington -- John Jay, Thomas Jefferson, and Edmund Randolph.)

No, I am not smarter than a 5th grader. I have watched the show and really felt embarrassed when I gave the wrong answer. I was an A student back in the day! It is a funny show.

It way easier being a armchair quaterback, then actualy being a contestent. To know that there are millions watching the show, that you will have to face your family and friends if you flunk out and the pressure involved can be very intimidating.
You may know the answer but you have a brain freeze at the time. It's not easy I'm sure. Some people are good in some subjects and not in others. And some people just get greedy, and want more money and should stop while the gitting is good.

Great question. I don't have a TV any more so I can say I have never watched it. I have seen it advertised on TV's at other people's houses, but have never watched the show myself. I do find though that I can answer a lot of the questions on Jeopardy in the general trivia type areas and I think rocks are smarter than the people who are on Wheel of Fortune. When almost all the letters are up on the board and some one guesses another letter that isn't up there and yet the answer is as plain as the warts on their noses. Some really dumb people must be allowed on that show. However, your show looks interesting. May have to check it out one day. Have a great day!

One of my favorite shows. "I am not smarter then a 5th grader." I love the questions but do get stumped on some. I would be so nervous as a contestant i would flunk out right away.

Yeah, I find that I am smarter than the contestants. But when I play the game at home with my 14 & 15 1/2 yr olds I find they are quite smarter than I am.

I've never watched it but I'm probably not smarter than a 5th grader in some things; but in life; know a lot more than they do.

Yes, I am smarter; but, that isn't saying much. I have not found the average 5th grader to be all that smart.
The kids on TV are far from your averagef 5th grader and the adults are not the best or smartest of specimens.
