The ASVAB is a test designed to get a feel for your knowledge base before you select your MOS. The different jobs that will be available to you will be dependent on your score (as well as whether or not you qualify for a security clearence).
The MOS is (pretty much) guaranteed. Sure, if there is some horrible mishap or the Army needs you in a different field, they'll move you, but the chances of that happening are about .01%. If you fail to qualify for your MOS while at AIT, the Army will usually give you another chance, or force you to select another MOS.
What field(s) are you looking at?

My suggestions: a million. you could % a mos yet that doesn't recommend they are going to provide you what you like. It relies upon on your asvab scores and the desires of the army. superb now the army desires bodies for Iraq. 2. some human beings sense they might desire to connect the militia because of fact of dire want. (the only 'would desire to' difficulty i'm able to think of of is with the help of the fact one is starving and watching the youngsters starve. Even then the pay isn't all that great. some militia human beings would desire to apply nutrition stamps to get with the aid of). 3. Bonus money to connect looks good yet would properly be deceptive. My son has to combat for money each and each semester even nevertheless he become promised those money could be attainable. Bonus money isn't paid up front yet in basic terms after one has been in the service 'x' volume of months or years and is taxed so the full volume is in no way found out. college is in many situations interrupted with the aid of coaching or deployment. 4. Your will omit out on huge chunks of your daughter's existence. she can omit you. Your spouse will omit you. you will omit your spouse. 5. Recruiters have an time table. they have quotas to fulfill. Take something they say with a great grain of salt. 6. There are different a thank you to serve your united states. My credentials? i'm the spouse of a retired army guy and the mum of a militia reservist.

Not so fast.... there are catch-all MOSes like the one I got: 16 Xray. What that meant was air defense artillery. I could have been Patriot, Vulcan, Stinger, Chapparel, any of them. I didn't know that til I got to Ft. Bliss out of Basic. I ended up being HAWK. I knew I'd be shooting down planes, but how I was to do that was left to the Army.
Also, use your GT score as a bargaining chip to land the right MOS. I had a score of 125, and I was a monkey who ran downrange and plugged the birds in. I could have done ANYthing.

MOS is not guaranteed. Yes, you will get your ASVAB score before telling them what you are interested in. You will be paired up with what you qualify for based on your score.

Sign all you want. You can back out at any time prior to raising your right hand and swearing in. After that, it's too late. You are committed.
It is fairly easy for the Army to give you what you want, unless you test out as a rock. But seeing as how your question is comprehensible and spelled correctly (unlike most on Yahoo! Answers) I don't think you will have a problem with the test. And don't let the recruiter verbally guarantee you anything. Get it in writing.

Well, I know one thing for sure. You will have your MOS here in the states but when you get deployed to Iraq they will change your MOS. My son is in the Army and before he deployed to Iraq he was in the HazMat field and then he was switched to Convoy Ops delivering supplies. We were all very upset. Good luck to you!!

they use your score to tell you what mos you can qualify for. when you actually enlist and if they dont have a certain mos that you want (that youre eligible for) then you can wait until it becomes avaliable. just because you qualify one doesnt mean it will be availiable when you enlist
