How much should I ask in compensation for dented refigerator door?
I have contractors in my kitchen who have pushed my refrigerator against the island and caused a long scratch and dent across the front of it. It wasn't new, but was in very good condition before this. How much is fair that I should ask in compensation since it is not repairable? Thank you.

Call an appliance store and ask how much it would be to replace the door, then let the contractors know the cost and go from there.

The contractor should pay to have the door replaced. If they are reputable, they will have insurance to cover these types of accidents. The dent and scratch will irritate you more (regardless of the compensation) as time goes on.If its a stainless steel door, cost will be around $ 600 but an enamel door will be considerably cheaper.

Well I would say 25% of the cost of the fridge just because its on the door. If it was on a side where the dent/scratch would be covered by walls or cabinets I would say nothing but it is a cosmetic surface and if you have contractors doing work in you kitchen I would imagine you are doing cosmetic work to it I would think you are matching cabinets and stuff to you fridge so I think its a huge problem.

if its not repairable, give them a quote to buy a brand new model,or knock the equivelant off your bill, simple as that and dont take any waffle off them. theyve damaged it,they pay for it....look at it this way,if they broke an antique say at £1000.00 you wouldnt say give us £100.00 would you,get the full whack of em.
