Did you know you can use your car alarm to...?

help protect you while at home? Two ways are:

Keep your keys by you when you go to bed. If you hear an intruder simply press the alarm button for your car. The alarm can usually be triggered from anywhere in the house and will continue until you turn it off or the car battery runs down. This type of noise is undesirable by an intruder so chances are good they will leave to avoid detection. Also eventually one of your nosy neighbors (we all have them) will come to see what all the ruckus is about.

The same protection can be gotten during the day if you fall or otherwise need to attract attention to yourself. A continuous car alarm is very annoying. Someone will eventually come to find out why it has not been turned off.

I read that in a email today and wondered if anyone else had heard of this.

No, I hadn't heard about this. All I can say is, thank you so much for this assistance. I know of many who will benefit as I pass your information forward. I appreciate you. God Bless.

i dont think the alarms deter the jackers. however, a security system that wont let the car be started without a key is a pretty good deterent. maybe some day in the future they will design an alarm that automatically calls the police if the car is tampered with.

Pretty good idea, sneak thiefs don't like anything out of the ordinary when they are plying their trade. It might further help to let your neighbors know you might use your car alarm this way as in the day time car alarms tend to be ignored.

As a matter of fact, I did read that some time ago. I have since kept my car keys on my night stand every night, just in case. Yes, it is a great thing to use in the daytime as well.

That really is a great idea !!! Our problem here is we always purchase what we refer to as " Hoopdee's" meaning banged up , lucky to have a radio , and definately no alarm ! I will pass this along !

No. I haven't heard this but this is good advice. I will try this next someone wants to invade us. By the way did you get your email from a viable source?

  • I did not know that. Great idea. I have used my car alarm to find my car at the mall, though.

Good idea, and I may pass that on to our community paper. We have security guards driving around, and a large senior population, and that would really be an inexpensive alarm for them. Thanks.

never thought about that but since my nearest neighbor is over a mile away and the vehicles are in the garage i doubt it would do any good but it is a good point!!!
