Need To Remove Dashboard on 1996 Ford Explorer 4X4 4.0L?
Is it possible to remove the dashboard without disturbing the instrument panel? Does anyone have a link to step by step instructions on how to remove the dash?
NOTE: Guy's I'm an Electrical Engineer.
I understand what is involved. I've taken apart very sophisticated electrical and computer equipment. I am not a master mechanic! I guess maybe I should have rephrased the question. All I really want to know is: Can the dash be pulled back in one piece? Or do I have to take it apart piece by piece. First remove the radio. Then remove the instrument panel, etc, etc . . .

this is a task for a skilled technician you have airbags that have to be disconnected, possibly removing your driver seat, dropping down steering column, removing stereo, instrument cluster, several electrical connectors, and lots of screws and fasteners, its usually a 5 to 6 hour in our labor guides.(to narrow the answer yes you have to remove instrument cluster to remove dash)

its not a quick job, and avoid pulling or jerking on it too much. you will always miss a screw or two.
