What's the attraction to reality tv?

Personally, I can't stand 'reality' TV. It certainly doesn't really mimic reality as we know it: the majority of it is staged for the sake of drama. I mean, come on...yeah, I'm sure there'd be drama with 7 strangers living in the same house, but some of the stuff that happens is a little far fetched, if not completely ridiculous.

The public's obsession with reality TV is just fueling more terrible shows. For instance, that new show where the participants admit incriminating secrets about themselves?? Totally tastless. The majority of the public just loves feeding off of other people's misfortune to make themselves feel better (eg. Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, etc.)

If I do watch TV, it's usually either a witty comedy or something informative & educational.

You guys are the most idiotic people in the world. I can't believe you would even join this forum if you didn't like reality TV. What the buck?! Seriously, reality TV is intriguing. It is hilarious to watch and you guys are just being emo because your "regular" TV isn't making any new shows. Reality TV is the only thing new on TV. The writer's went on strike, so, what's supposed to be on TV?

I really don't know, except I'm sick of it. Just about everything is in the "reality "realm today, and it seems like they cannot find American announcers. Sound like they're all from England or Australia.

I'm also tired of hearing kids screaming for 1/2 hour on some of these programs with multiple birth children.

hey I'm sooo happy!! I thought I was the only one who was not into reality TV!!! I totally agree with you guys... at least not with the last comment... uhm... if it's not REAL... why it's called reality TV???

I totally agree that Real World was cool for a few seasons... but it was when it seemed to be real... maybe I'm mistaken, and maybe it was not... but at least the first seasons seemed to have real people... they had real jobs... they had real problems...

reality TV sucks big time!

I think there are some good reality shows. Like Project Runway and Top Chief. But I mean, come on, look what American Idol has turned into! I don't watch it anymore.
