In churches named after Saint Peter..?
...Why aren't the crosses upside down?
PS~ St. Peter was crucified upside down, so the story goes.
NEANDERT...~ How did I answer my own Q?
TRAVELER~ I DID know that, but I asked anyway.
~I ask because I've seen churches/shrines of a particular saint where the theme of that saint is repeated throughout the building.

you are correct. there is one that has a very old painting of just that it's atop the janniculum hill in Rome. it, however to the side, as any rememberance of him would be. the church and main altar are dedicated to Christ - nothing its to take a way from why we are in church adn that is Jesus Christ. the church's namesake is just kind of like saying -- Jesus -- you picked a fine apostle -- thank you! hey st Peter - you were a wonderful loving dedicated servant - thanks for being a true example of how we all can be true followers of Christ.

Do you know the full story? When Peter was condemned to be crucified, he asked to be crucified upside down because our Lord Jesus Christ was Crucified. He did not want to be glorified in any way with the Lord.
And you don't put up a symbol of a man's death but a symbol of our salvation. If you knew that, you wouldn't haven't asked this questions.
[edit] I apologize for my wrong assumption.

there is not any information that Paul or Peter have been saints and no information that they visited church homes as back of their day it grew to become into synagogues. Paul and Peter worshiped and carry forth approximately Jesus and their actual God Jehovah. basically guy has made them saints

Peter requested his cross be upside down because he felt he wasn't worthy enough to die the same way Jesus died.

Because the church is named for St. Peter, but they don't worship St. Peter. The only one that is worshiped is Jesus Christ so only the crucifix is appropriate.

Saint Peter isn't God

It was the Cross of Jesus, not the cross of Peter, that has redemptive value.

Because they aren't worshipping St. Peter - they are worshipping Jesus!

I don't know. My church does not have any churches named St Peter. And we don't have crosses on our church, we have spires representing the resurrection of the Lord.

Because the churches are to revere Jesus, not Peter.
