Would be nice for someone other than the wealthy or well backed by those wishing to dictate how this country is run but, unless the government finds a way to fund the campaigns; the average Joe/Jane doesn't have a chance. But, then it has always been this way since our first President was elected, all of our Presidents have come from money, some made it for themselves others inherited it but, they have all been from the wealthy, not the average Joe/Jane!

Average Joe is just trying to pay the house mortgage, 2 car payments and the utilities, keep food on the table, put the kids through college, and still find time to coach little league baseball.

Average Joe (and Jane) makes a great mayor or city council, maybe county commissionioner. They're the ones who really keep this country rolling along.

God Bless Average Joe and Jane!

Anybody could run for President, I suppose. But, wouldn't you have to know a lot of people to get a lot of votes? Plus, just because the majority agreed with you doe not mean you would get all the delegate votes, etc.. behind you.

The Independents aren't doing much campaigning and they are close to Average Joe's.

Romney spent 100 Million on his failed campaign, Hillary just "lent" her campaign 5 Million dollars. Average Joe's hardly stand a chance, thats why for the first time I sent money to a candidate and that candidate was Senator Obama!

Maybe it SHOULDN'T be about money, but it IS. That's why no average Joe will ever run, much less win. A man like Abe Lincoln wouldn't stand a chance today. Sad, but true!

Mike is your average Joe and that's why I like him and voted for him.......hey the man lived in a triple wide while the Arkansas Governor's Mansion was being restored!

alas but it is. Money wins elections, even on the local level, the average joe running for city council has to raise about 25K to be considered seriously

Because the average joe is not receiving kickbacks from a job in the senate... It's all about the $$$

The money brokers will keep their power by making a campaign too costly for a regular person. Maybe some day with the help of the internet, it will change.

The average joe would probably understand the American people a whole better too.
