Is it better to ask for references that have known me recently, or that know how I would do at the job?

I am applying for a summer camp job. I haven't worked with children for a while, but I do have a lot of experience with them. Any references who could talk about my experiences with kids I haven't talked to for at least a year. I also have some great references that can't speak of my ability to work with kids. What's better?

A combination of reference types would be best. That way the prospective employer will get a full (and wonderful, we hope) picture of your abilities.

    Good luck!
