Can I take any legal action for construction being done in my apartment that is affecting our quality of life?
My boyfriend and I moved into a new apartment complex this spring, with the disclosure by the apartment managers that they would be remodeling the complex. They didn't detail what that would mean. They just started on our building and have told us that we need to have everything moved out of our balcony and balcony closet and that we will have limited to no access to it for the next three months. They are also redoing our kitchen, but that's not so much of an issue, because they said they would be done with it in five days or so after starting it. Additionally, we have to have everything off the walls and have been warned to have all electronics on surge protectors, because "things happen". For the balcony, they are offering us storage space on the complex grounds, but it is not in a convenient location for us to be getting stuff from it frequently. I'm upset about this because part of the reason we chose this complex was for the balcony; I have plants, a bike, chairs, and other assorted things out there. Essentially, we are having part of our apartment's square footage taken away for an extended period of time. I would like a rent reduction or something similar. Do we have any grounds to submit a complaint, legal or otherwise?
6 AnswersRenting & Real Estate7 years agoIn which states can someone with a non-teaching Bachelor's Degree find a teaching job?
I know that some states, such as Louisiana, grant provisional teaching licenses to people with Bachelor's degrees in unrelated areas. You just have to show that you are enrolled in a teaching program and find a district to sponsor you. Does anyone else know of states where this is common?

It seems like every hotel is either booked or very expensive for these dates.
2 AnswersWashington, D.C.8 years agoHow do I start to grow bamboo in a little indoor pot?
I've got a yard full of bamboo and I want to put a little shoot in an indoor pot, like the little ones they sell at grocery stores and farmers markets. How can I do this? What does inside the pot? It seems like they always have rocks at the top but I'm not sure if it's just rocks inside or if there is soil at the bottom. Here's a picture of what I've thinking of: http://images.fineartamerica.com/images-medium/bam...
1 AnswerGarden & Landscape8 years agoWhich Arizona cities would be best for a young couple to move to for the winter?
My boyfriend and I (in our mid-20s) are thinking of moving to Arizona to enjoy some sunshine during the winter months, and then leaving in May or so when then weather gets too hot. Which cities would be best to look at? I'm trying to find a good combination of affordable living, interesting things to do and see, and warm weather. Thanks!
4 AnswersPhoenix8 years agoI'm looking for a comfortable, stylish, and professional new wardrobe for a job at a college. Help please?
I'm starting a job at a private college. My personal style is comfortable and casual - I'm a jeans and a tee shirt kind of girl. What can I wear that still feels like me but is professional and stylish? I am tall and don't normally wear high heals, and was told to dress nice but not too nice, just a step above normal student wear. No jeans but also no business suits. Pictures appreciated. It's been a while since I've gone shopping for a new wardrobe!
2 AnswersFashion & Accessories9 years agoHow do I switch my Verizon number to a new unlocked phone without a SIM card?
Is there a way to switch my Verizon number to a new unlocked phone without a SIM card? Does it matter what brand the phone is for me to switch the number? I've changed from one old phone to another old phone that I have had sitting around, but they've always been previous Verizon phones that I knew would work.
1 AnswerCell Phones & Plans9 years agoHow do I make a simple sentence, "A is B", in Korean?
It seems that every description I read complicates things. I know that there are different subject markers (가 and 이) and levels of respect, but if I want to say a simple sentence like, "He is a doctor," or "She is a teacher," how would I do that?
Also, is there a different way to use adjectives ("She is smart") or can I use the same sentence structure?
1 AnswerLanguages9 years agoAre there any good alternatives to buying a mattress?
I move around a lot, and just moved to another state. I actually own a bed, but it didn't fit in my car to move here and now I'm mattress-less again. I am on a budget and also don't want to spend a ton of money on a bed if I'm just going to be moving again in 10 months. Right now my boyfriend and I are sleeping on an air mattress, but it loses air and isn't very comfortable. Has anyone found a good alternative to buying a mattress set? Are foam mattresses or memory foam pads any good? The idea choice would be something that would maybe fit in my small SUV next time I need to pack up.
4 AnswersOther - Home & Garden10 years agoI'm thinking of moving to the Los Angeles, CA area - where are good areas to work/live?
I'm graduating from college in June and my boyfriend and I (both in our early 20s) are thinking of moving to a city or area around Los Angeles. We are just starting out in our careers and looking for a nice, fun place to live that's not too incredibly expensive. Any suggestions? Also, any comments on what it's like living in the area would be fantastic.
5 AnswersLos Angeles1 decade agoHow can employers hire only devout Christian employees without it being considered religious discrimination?
I am trying to find a job at a (any) college. A lot of the private Christian colleges list things like "a demonstrated commitment to the Christian faith" as a job requirement. How can they say things like this and not have it be considered religious discrimination?
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHow can I feel more at ease during a phone interview?
I am more of an "in-person" person. I am a lot better at presenting myself at in person interviews where I can use/read body language and eye contact. Plus, I am just a lot more comfortable speaking with someone in person and don't like talking on the phone. I have had a few phone interviews lately that I know would have gone better had they been in person. Does anyone have any tips for doing better on a phone interview?
3 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoHow can I get a teaching job with a bachelor's degree that's not in education?
I would like to teach in a high-needs school (inner-city, poverty) for a few years to try out teaching and make a difference. I already know about the Teach for America program, but does anyone know of others I can apply to?
3 AnswersTeaching1 decade agoI'm tired of neopets. What's another online multiplayer game that I might like?
I've had an account on neopets.com for quite a while. It's an online community in which you adopt a pet and then earn points through owning a shop or playing games which are used to buy items. It has recently gotten really kid oriented which I don't like. I'm not big on battle games so I want a game that's not completely based on that, but some is okay. I mostly like the earning points to buy items part. Anyone have a game site I might like?
6 AnswersVideo & Online Games1 decade agoWhere can I get fashionable, inexpensive clothing?
Department stores drive me nuts, it's all for old ladies or young teens. I'm 20. I just want stylish inexpensive (not cheap, but not $40 shirts) for ladies my age. Any good store ideas where I could buy online?
17 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoIs it better to ask for references that have known me recently, or that know how I would do at the job?
I am applying for a summer camp job. I haven't worked with children for a while, but I do have a lot of experience with them. Any references who could talk about my experiences with kids I haven't talked to for at least a year. I also have some great references that can't speak of my ability to work with kids. What's better?
1 AnswerOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoHow can I find an internship or summer job in a small town?
I'm looking for something to do this summer that will help me prepare for my career after I graduate college. I really don't want to work at a "teen" summer job (tourist shop, restaurant), and would be more interested in an internship or a seasonal job with a government agency. I live in a small town, though, so none of the job search sites include positions in my area. Any ideas on how I can find a job or internship?
3 AnswersOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoI live on campus with a meal plan. My friend hints a lot that she wants me to buy her lunch. What can I say?
She always tells me that she's hungry and that she has no money for food. I feel bad, but we're not super close friends, and I don't want to buy her lunch three times a week when we have class together. What can I say when she complains about how she's starving, hinting I should pay for her food?
