If a bunch of hoodies...?
were outside my house and I went out with a baseball bat and one said 'com on then' and I then hit him with the baseball bat could I plead that he literally asked for it? Maybe I coud wear a video camera to record it as evidence?

You are well within your rights to protect yourself & your home...make sure he approaches you on your property then take a swing at him...no court of law will convict you.
Edit:..I was getting hassle/ threats from a rowdy neighbour (known to the police)..the police came to my home..the police officer said I was within my rights to hit the guy as long as it was self defence..

Call the police, then you can video tape them beating the hoodies with their bats and sell the video for a few thousand to your local news program

Lol, I must be really suburban, because a hoody to me is a sweatshirt with a hood on it.
I think, someone simply requesting assault is likely not a valid defense of actually doing it.
Otherwise, there would be mayhem in casinos everytime blackjack players said "hit me"

If you're in the UK, you could plead it but it would be unlikely that it would accepted in court. You would be breaking the law.

Great Idea, If you took your camera as evidence that they asked for it then you mightget away with it. :)

Interesting question...
You could always say you felt he was threatening you or your property, which is illegal.
