What is the best AT&T phone for texting and music?

In a few months, I will be eligible to upgrade my phone on AT&T. I currently have the Samsung SYNC, and it's an okay phone, but the battery is horrible. Even though I understand that it should be a little low because it is a music phone, it has become ridiculous. I would like to purchase another music phone (not Samsung obviously), but I want a phone that is easy to text on. I have narrowed my options down to five choices: Sony Ericsson w580i (my top choice), Blackberry Curve, Blackberry Pearl, Pantech Duo, and LG Shine. I know that the Curve is a little on the big size, but I think it's worth it to get the QWERTY keyboard. I appreciate everyone's recommendations! (If you have another recommendation that is not on my top five list, feel free to tell me!)

Update:

Unlocked phones are okay, too!

If you want a texting phone, I would go for the pantech duo. It has a dual sliding keyboard. It also has a microSD, A2DP, and WCDMA features.

you sound like me. I am able to upgrade my account in a month and i have been looking into the same thing. I have been looking at the pantech duo for a while and the blackberry curve. What gets me to go closer to the pantech side is the sliding keyboard only because I am an extreme texter and its easier for me. The only problem is I have heard complaints that it freezes sometimes and the battery dies a little too fast. Yet, the phone is still appealing to me due to its features. I would rather do everything on my cell instead of running to a computer. Just my opinion you know.
