Would it be possible to have satellite TV and Cable internet on the same coax cable?
Is that possible? Like get cable internet (or U-verse/Fios internet running through coax) and satellite tv running through the same cable?
I was wondering if that setup was possible, then I would get home telephone with a Voip provider (Ooma, Vonage), and have that signal go through the phone line in the house.
Before someone asks why not get all services from one company, it has to do with price.
3 AnswersOther - Internet1 decade agoHas anybody paid for a restaurant meal with a check?
Like, for example, you go to like a restaurant (probably fancy one), and the waiter gives you the bill, and you pay for the meal (or for the whole group) by writing a check. Has anyone ever done that? Is there like an etiquette as to how to do it or whether to do it?
6 AnswersOther - Dining Out1 decade agoAT&T DSL vs Comcast Cable Internet in Atlanta (midtown)?
Like the question asks, what are your opinions (both negative AND positive). I'm getting a short-term apartment in midtown for college, and I need to choose between those two. Comcast said they will give me Cable TV+15meg internet for $70/mo or cable tv alone for $30/mo. AT&T said they'll give me 6meg dsl for $20/mo. So I can look for about 20bucks/mo savings for ditching about 9megs, which I don't mind (price is a priority), but I need to get the speeds I sign up for. So may I ask what your take is. Any objective opinions appreciated.

Like for example, The NFL network is separate from NFL Sunday Ticket.
2 AnswersBasketball1 decade agoCan someone explain what is powerboost [or turboboost]?
I look at options for Comcast or Cox and they offer things like 16Mbps and 2Mbps upload with Powerboost. What does it do, and how does it affect downloads [like a 200 meg file]?
2 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoWhy does my local station only broadcasts primetime shows in HD and others shows in SD?
Lets says for example, channel-4 (NBC) can broadcast Heroes or Conan in HD, and Jeopardy, which although says 'Jeopardy HD' on the lower left, is shown only in 4:3 SD on the same digital channel. Why is that so? Also I notice that when the local station wants to show a weather alert map on the upper right, the picture changes from HD to regular definition [even when watching a primetime program]. Can somebody give me an explanation as to why this happens? Thank you.
3 AnswersTVs1 decade agoFor those who have AT&T or T-Mobile with a 3G phone in a 3G area (preferably a city), how is your service?
As in how the reception is, whether it switches between 3G and EDGE in the same spot, data speeds and voice quality.

1 AnswerOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoHas any NFL team had a zero-win season in history?
Since there is a (good) chance Detroit might end up with a 0-16 season, I wonder if this is the first time this has happened. I don't think any team should go through this.
15 AnswersFootball (American)1 decade agoIs it OK to buy those 802.11n routers, even though it says draft N?
I have been seeing a lot of those in ads lately, about faster than 802.11g routers, called 802.11n, but apparently they are not going to finalize the standard until Nov 2009, so they are called draft N. So is it OK to buy them then?
5 AnswersOther - Hardware1 decade agoIs there a website that will list available internet service providers in my area for a residence?
This has to include dialup, DSL, Cable, Fiber and such.
1 AnswerOther - Local Businesses1 decade agoHow long would it have taken to go around the world, before the Industrial Revolution?
Just curious, because we got jets and all that, and we take it for granted.
But I want to know how long it would have taken on sail ships, or through land (through a land bridge).
1 AnswerOther - Destinations1 decade agoWhy do some states provide 85 octane gas?
I was in Colorado, and I saw gas stations serving 85 octane gas, along with 87 and 89. Also, I know that the altitude is around 5000 ft, compared to 1000 where I'm from. So, my guess is altitude, and pressure. Right?

7 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoWhy do some people think the Iphone is the greatest thing man has invented, since the wheel?
I hear that argument, and I don't get it. I have seen better phones, some with TV tuners.
Sure, it plays music well, friendly web browsing and such. But with only 2MP camera, problematic MMS, no stereo bluetooth (for a music device) or bt file transfer for that matter, no FM radio, no video chat option (for any version)...
I'm deciding on a new phone, and almost everyone is telling me to buy that. But I'm not impressed.
3 AnswersCell Phones & Plans1 decade agoWhy do people in Atlanta drive so fast on the freeway?
On let's say I-85 and I-75, the speed limit posted is 55mph, yet the flow of traffic is at around 70mph. On certain sections past I-285, the average traffic flow (not the extreme drivers) is moving at like 80mph. What gives? I've seen drivers on the HOV lane going 90mph. As a person from out-of-town, I'm like wtf. Is there a race between people there? Also, I-285 driving is insane.
I come from place where people rarely go beyond 5+mph above speed limit (which is usually 65). So it's nerve-wracking to drive there.
15 AnswersAtlanta1 decade agoWhat car would be better - Prius or Camry Hybrid?
So I would need this for work (30mi commute a day), grocery shopping, maybe to the mall, and some occasional road trips, like every 3 months (assume 250mi one-way). Which one would suit better?
