What car would be better - Prius or Camry Hybrid?

So I would need this for work (30mi commute a day), grocery shopping, maybe to the mall, and some occasional road trips, like every 3 months (assume 250mi one-way). Which one would suit better?

The Prius is the more practical car of the two because of the hatchback design-- And the Prius rear seats can be folded down to give you a continuous flat cargo space 6 feet long, if you do need to haul stuff. (The Camry Hybrid's rear seats cannot be folded down because the hybrid battery pack is right behind it.)

If you want performance, then the Camry Hybrid is the better choice because it has a bigger engine-- 2.4L vs. the Prius 1.5L. The increased performance does come at the cost of lower fuel economy though.

If you want to buy the Camry Hybrid, you should get the Nissan Altima Hybrid instead. The Altima Hybrid also uses the same Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive-- Nissan licensed it from Toyota. The Altima Hybrid has a 2.5L engine, also tuned for performance, about the same size as the Camry Hybrid, about the same fuel economy. AND-- It qualifies for a $2300 Federal Tax Credit. Toyota hybrids on the other hand no longer qualifies for any tax credit refunds.

    Hope this helps.

i suggest you wait since soon vehicle that are gas free for the first 30-40 miles and then run on gas when the battery goes out... chevy volt and others like it so just wait if thats all you do... otherwise the prius will yield the best results unless you get a honda insight but that only carries to passengers
