An Amish won't answer this, but I at least watched a learning channel special on them, so I know a little. They don't believe technology is evil or sinful. They just try to use it. It is the ultimate practice of "avoid the near occasion of sin". It is not uncommon for an Amish to have non-Amish friends. Most of them have phones for emergencies and radios for bad weather. Some even have televisions for safety reasons. It is also not unheard of for an Amish to catch a ride in a car from a friend. Their non-use of technology is a practice, not an absolute rule.

Incidentally, when making something, such as a quilt(they're famous for quilts), they intentionally insert a semi-obvious flaw because they believe that only God can be perfect.

Amish kids are not encouraged to hang out with English children.

I live close to Amish country - sometimes they come to the English world - but only for certain things. Sometimes they use phones - but they don't have them in their communities - they have to go to a nearby payphone.

I visited an Amish farm in Pennsylvania once. They are weird people. They don't use electricity and no computer, for sure.

    Peace!

Dude, Amish people aren't going to be on this site. They don't have computers.

Ha, Ha! That's a good one!

Since they don't use electricity, I doubt that there are many Amish using the Internet.

Are you, by any chance, the person that called your computer makers customer service during a blackout to ask why your monitor wasn't working?

I don't think you're going to find many Amish on here; they don't generally have computers in their homes.

    Hi,

They shun radio, television, cell phones and cars so I doubt you'll get answers in the web unless it is an ex - Amish person.
