I think it kills the game and turns it too much into a scoring fest. I like soccer because of the skill and precision. With those rules, anybody and their mum can score...

Wow, genius post.
About ten years ago, I made a list of twenty suggestions for improving the game that would never be adopted, and those matched two of my suggestions almost exactly.
My suggestions differed in these ways:
1. Direct free kicks. (It's almost impossible to score a goal from the touch line, anyway.)
2. No offside behind the forward edge of the kick-off circle. (In other words, ten yards forward of the halfway line.)
These Limeys don't understand that while they invented an interesting game, nothing can survive without updating and improvement, much like the England flag needs updating and improvement because the St. George cross is a racist symbol.
