Do I need an international driver's license to rent a car in Ireland?

I have a U.S. Driver's license, and will only be renting a car for a week in Ireland. Just wanted to make sure I don't need to also get an international driver's license! Thanks for your help!

You need to check the terms and conditions of the rental company you choose to hire your car from, as some car hire companies in Ireland require an international driver's license while some don't.

Yeah, if u have a license from eire, ur ok, so long because that is genuine and nevertheless works. when I went to Japan, all i did is teach my American license, so i wager its ok. American roads are way more beneficial risky than those in Europe, so prepare a lil bit

Yes you do, go to AAA they have the applications and can help you get one. You can do it through the mail too. Print out the application (see the link) and mail it to the AAA office with two passport style photos and they will send you your IDP.

Yes you do. Where I live, it cost about $15. They will put your picture on it and all you do is sign the piece of paper. No test or exam.
