My husband has an infected intestine from eating a peanut?

He just went to the clinic and came back with some insane antibiotic for something he doesnt have symptoms of.

He said it was dybarticulitis? Apparently he had a slight cold and ate a peanut which carried the virus to his gut where in the matter of 24 hours created a severe infection.

They took blood but didnt wait for the results to see if that indeed is the issue. I looked it up online and all that i can find it divarticulits (sp?) which you actually have to be TEST for extensively to know if you have it.

He has just regular flu symptoms, a fever, the runs, nausia but not throwing up, achey and tired. He did have a cold before, and then this set in yesterday.

He's not aching on one side of his body, he's not sore to the touch in his belly, he eats well and has an excellent exercise routine, and he's not over 50... nothing matches up with the symptoms of what theyre treating him for...

I honestly dont know what to do. He's convinced he's dying of something (like any sick man)...

Update:

It all just seems fishy to me. He always acts like its the end of the world when he has the sniffles, I probably should have gone with him to the doctors because he exagerates things and hasnt ever gone to the doctor alone...

I can understand your hesitation to trust that diagnosis. My father has Diverticulitus.

My brother-in-law had an issue with an infection in his intestine. They never diagnopsed it as anything, but did treat it with antibiotic. They said something probably got "stuck" in his intestine causing the problem. Is your husband dealing with bloody stool, or just bloody discharge? My brother in law didn't feel sick other than diarreah type feelings in his stomach followed by bloody stool. He was sure it was colon cancer, but they bipsied his colon to rule that out, as well as doing a colonoscopy. That is how they figured out it was an infection.

If I were you, I'd encourage him to take the antibiotics and see if that improves the symptoms he's dealing with.

Best of luck to your husband!!
