Does manufactured stone fireplaces have to be sealed? One contractor says yes one says no. Which is it.??

I had it done two years ago and the grout is beginning to crack.

The stone was put up two years ago but never sealed.

    well, presuming that you live in the US, contact your county building department and speak to an inspector or senior plan checker and ask them... this is something that will vary from state to state and county to county.

    They'll give you the definative answer for your particular area.

    You need to contact the manufacturer about the product line in question. The manufacturer will spec things like that for the contractor or installer. If the unit was installed incorrectly in more then likely will void the warranty. If the product is failing you need to contact the installer asap, and reach some kind of resolution.
