What could we do INSTEAD... with all that money used for campaigns?
What If there were a different way for parties to choose their candidates that did not involve kickback promises and donations, and instead the same amount of money were used for good. What could we do with all the money diverted from campaigning? What world problems or USA problems could we then solve with that much more money available?
There are a lot of good thoughts here. My thinking is expanding. This is great.
please do not do any personal campaigning for a candidate on here. Your opinion is important to me on my question... but not your candidate choice.

Feel free to not mark the box on your EZ form that says you want $3 to go to campaigns. That $3 is really the only say you have in the matter.

Nice idea, if you could get people to contribute that money to a big investment account that would be used for those things.
But you can't. And if they're not spending your money that you donate, then they're not spending your money. There is no federal money spent in campaigns, aside from what people specifically request on their tax returns (that box that says "Would you like $3 to go to the Presidential Election Fund?" . . . . That's what that's for).
And it can be argued, pretty effectively, that the money spent is already going to a good use; the donations that get a politician elected lead to a direction for the country. All the money that people are donating to Barack Obama, for example, is being used to elect a candidate who will the end the war in Iraq, no matter how badly it makes us look or in what condition it leaves that country. So the folks donating to Obama are using their money to stop the war at the expense of the Iraqis who still need help creating a democracy and ensuring their safety. What could be better than leaving them high and dry, right?

Campaigns are good for the economy. The illegal contributions are bad for the process. So what we need to do, is combine the money into a Campaign General Fund and all candidates get an even share to run their campaigns on an even playing field. Then the one that does the best job managing their funds would give us voters a good indication in their fiscal abilities.

Yes, I f we combine campaign contributions AND foreign aid into a health savings account for Americans, some people wouldn't be so stressed for health care

In reality....any time money is spent within our own country it is a good thing.....that money goes to pay workers, buy advertising, the media then pays its employees....every time money is spent it doesnt just disappear into some rathole somewhere
