How come so many people risk their lives trying to escape from communist countries?

I think maybe they need to see communism up close and personal. And while they're on their world tour they can experience poverty at third world levels, how a real dictator rules out of fear, and the slavery of the poor.

Maybe they'll appreciate how good it is in the US.

Have news for you look around, we in America ,are heading that way, the socialized health care, is a form of communism. we say we have free speech, well try that here on YA. And if we don't listen to the libs, think they will.? so maybe we had better wise up, and keep our america,free.

LOL. Being originally from Europe I have to laugh when some Americans try to tell me how much better things are in socialist Europe, especially the health care system which BTW is not totally free in most European countries. It is okay if you have a common disease which is easy to treat like an infection, but if you have MS, forget it.

Also, the Toilet Paper in the Soviet Union really sucked! A friend who visited the USSR brought us some back just to show us, that was some rough stuff!

Because they can never achieve the American dream and soon we won't be able to either. Everybody wants to have a house, car, children and a good job to pay for it all. The middle class is shrinking in large numbers. Those people that are losing their homes will never be able to get another, unless they have cash. Our good jobs have been moved to other countries and wages are stagnant in some places and reversing in others. I wish I were Swedish.

No, the people in those countries have it really bad. Rationed food and everything else. They are horrible countries with selfish dictators like Castro.

Because they don't like communism, I would think. Libs are not communist, silly, and I would venture to guess the majority of them know that communism doesn't work.

When we all accept everything that politicians and business tells us without looking into the details...this country will no longer be free

tommorrow you are not allowed to leave your house. or the next day or the next day or the next day so on and so on. You just sit there and see how much the outside world means to you.
