Death Benefits?

My daughters father got killed in Iraq. We had gotten a divorce so beneficiary of his benefits was his mother as our daughter is a minor. She took the benefits and plaed it in an account for our daughter no problem there. My uncle says that my daughter would still be covered under the medical insurance where do I go to find out about this.

I'm answering this based on the assumption that he was AD and not Reserves or Guard. I have very limited experience with the Reserves and Guard and am not able to speak for them.

She should have an ID card right? The ID card was issued by the DEERS office. You will need to take her ID and a copy of the death certificate to the nearest DEERS office. She will be given a new ID card to reflect her father's status as deceased. This does not change her benefits...she is entitlled to them until she either turns 21 or gets married.

Also she gets her college fund fully paid for she also is entitled to received checks from the military. Has she started to get her money from Social Security yet. Please e-mail me personally so more info she needs to get everything she is entilted to she deserves it.

your best way to go about finding out any information about things like that would either be by contacting the base chaplain and letting him know what your question is and he can lead you in the right direction or talking to a jag officer about your question and they will be able to tell you what your rights are as far as getting insurance or if she is going to have it and things like that
