If you are set on getting an iPod, then the easiest way to decide on which one to get, besides which one you just happen to like best, is to see how much music an/or video you actually have. There is no need to spend the extra money to buy a huge player if you don't need masses of storage space. All of the new iPods, with the exception of the shuffle, will play audio and video. The shuffle only plays audio and has no screen. The nano has a relatively small, though very nice screen, so if you want to watch videos you can, but they will be quite small. If you want an iPod that is nice and pocketable, and you don't have an enormous music library, the Nano is a good choice. It hold 4 or 8 GB of music and video, which is really a huge amount. If you have a huge music library, the Classic is the better choice as it can hold 80 or 160 GB of media, a truly enoumous amount of content. There is also the Touch which is certain very cool with its internet and other features, but still quite a pricey device, especially for the amount of storage you get. Also, you may want to go to a store and actually play with the various iPods to see which one you like, as it would be upsetting to get an iPod and then hate how you have to use it. But a good method of decision is to first see how much media you actually have and then which players you actually like using, then it should be pretty simple to pick between the various models.

a podcast is a collection of short videos that you can subscribe too
there are a few ipods that are both a mp3 and mp4 player
the nano(4gb & 8gb),the classic(80 gb &160gb) and the ipod touch (8gb,16gb &32gb)
all are very good but it al depends on the memory ,
if your cd collection is in the thousands then a classic might be for you since they have huge amounts of memory ,
if you don't like the size then a nano is a tiny but very high quality music player
and the touch is a nice in between it is a touch(screen as the name suggests)and only has one physical button
hope these help you out with your choice

Well i have the Ipod touch (32 GB) and i think its amazzing. You can surf the web< buy songs on ur Ipod<go on Youtube and do everything else a normal mp3 and 4 player can do...so i reccomend an Ipod Touch...also a podast is a free 2 to 30 min movie or song that gives you behind the secne looks or outakes or just more of the show. =] hope you get the mp3 player you want.

Get an iPod Classic 80 Gb. They are the best, play video etc. Podcasts are recorded radio shows which have been cut down and edited.

Look at the various ipods available and see which one YOU like. And then chose a suitable sized memory to meet your demands.
Podcasts can be thought of as an internet radio programme. They come in different formats but itunes will convert them normally to the right format so you don't have to worry!

I got my hubby an iPod Touch for his birthday...it holds MP3s and MP4s, as well as a calendar, personal info resource, and it can access the web and do lots of other stuff. There isn't anything you'd want to do that this can't do.

Go for the ipod nano, 4GB will get you room for 1000 tracks but only avaailable in Silver, but if you want one with more double the storage space and more colours then go for the 8GB model.
As for pod casts they are probs the best kept secret on itunes
I downloaded an Erol Alkan Dj set from itunes last night, a free dj set from a quality dj. Awesome.
check the link and then there's the Russel Brand pod casts which are are a giggle on the tube when you dont want to listen to anymore Andrew Bird or Ladytron.

Get an iTouch!
I have one, and love it!
A podcast= An online audio blog, made by people who typically sound like slightly camp nerds who most likely have no lives. It's pretty difficult to listen to one for more than about 5 minutes without laughing at them and then turning it off.

a podcast's basically a radio show. (the ricky gervais one's brilliant)
the ipod touch is cool, but to be honest i don't see the point in spending more to get less storage. you can get an 80gb classic for about 30 quid less than an 8gb touch!

My kids have got iPod nano's. They love that it is small & can slip in their jeans pocket or be held comfortably in the hand. I've recently bought refurbished 30gb iPod video, works fine, looks great etc etc but in retrospect a nano may have been better sizewise.
