i want to be an engineer, but I am unsure of what school to go to...?
I would like to go to one of the top engineering schools in the country and I haven't relaly looked much into it yet but I was wondering if anyone knew of some of teh better engineering schools other than like MIT. Right now I am the top student in my junior class and I plan on going into a really good school, but i was jsut wondering if anyone had any suggestions before I start researching and visiting schools. I really want to go to george washington university becuase they have a very exclusive engineering department there where the student - teacher ratio is ridiculously low, I think 5 or 6 to 1.

I am a alumni of University of Missouri - Rolla. Were I received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. As an alumni The university send out Alumni magazines to keep you informed what the university is doing. January 1st 2008 They changed the name to Missouri University of Science and Technology.
This link will take you to the school alumni magazine around campus section. http://magazine.mst.edu/around_campus/
This second link is Mechanical and Aerospace engineering. http://mae.mst.edu/
There is a lot more information there, Co-op program, Internship, Design teams, and the list goes on.
Don't get confused on the web site. MSM, Missouri School of Mines, UMR, University of Missouri - Rolla and MST Missouri University of Science and Technology are all the same school. These are all of the name changes it went though the years as it improved its curriculum.
I hope these links will help you with the research.

None better than MIT. Some are as good such as Caltec - but none better IMHO. I have no idea of the reputation of of George Washington university. But some organizations will only hire from the top 10 engineering schools. Your best bet would be to contact some prestigious engineering firms and find out exactly what schools they prefer.
Although not specifically engineering I did interview graduates of software engineering for IT jobs and it didn't matter one whit where you got your quals; as long as they were reputable ie had reputable accreditation. This immediately got rid of University of Phoenix and similar schools.
If it is software engineering and a future IT career that interests you then I recommend a combined software engineering/MBA similar to the following:
