Is there an inexpensive hair gel that smooths hair and prevents flyaway hair?

If you're just talking about static in your hair, I have another suggestion:

Use your regular styling products, then when you have static in your hair, just run a dryer sheet over it (they have un-scented sheets, too).

This really works - my daughters and I get major static in the winter and it works like a charm. I keep a couple in a baggie in my purse for emergencies.

It all depends what kind of hold you want the gel to have. Wella's Shockwave hair products have some really good gels out there, and they're not too expensive either.

Tigi have some beautiful hair products out that are gel based, called 'Creative genius' and another called 'Power trip hair gel', both which will do the job perfectly but they're a little more costly.

The product that would probably suit your needs more, is a hair serum. There are tons of hair serums on the shelves but you've probably never noticed. I'd seriously recommend John Frieda hair serum. It comes in a clear bottle and what feels like a load of slippery, oily... oil in your hand actually gets soaked up by your hair and smoothes it all down, and leaves it smelling fresh and stops all of the flyaways, not to mention making it ultra shiny.

Another alternative is Tresemme serum cream. It does exactly the same as the ordinary serum but is a little thicker and you can style your hair a bit more and work with it. It also doesn't cost much at all.

Just browse the hair product shelves in a shop. Have a read of the backs of bottles and see what they recommend, but definately the top four names to look out for are-

Wella's Shockwave. Tigi. Tresemme. John Frieda.

Bear those in mind and you'll get smooth hair with not a flyaway in sight.

    Good luck!

I would suggest using a straightener. For the fly aways. Hum, the frizz stuff never works. I think it only works if your hair it static.

My daughter uses Sunsilk Anti-Poof shampoo, conditioner, and creme. It smells nice, and helps to control hair that gets thicker as it dries. The creme by itself is probably under $3.00.

I agree with the answer of LA Looks, as it's what I use and it works great. I like the price, too!

  • LA LOOKs gel. Its a dollar
