I rent at the local hardware store or the grocery store. They are about the same price here. You might want to call and get prices.
I bought a carpet cleaner at WallyWorld and the liner ripped mixing the clean water with the soiled water. Sent for a new liner and the same thing happened. It lasted about 3 times then ripped. Now I rent a unit and don't have to store it!

you can buy a basic carpet cleaner for around 70 dollars at a Walmart or another place like it. Granted it's not a super-dooper one with all the bells and whistles but it does do the job. Also you have the advantage of having it year round and you can use it over and over.
I bought a Bissell for more money basically because it had a hose also attached to it for doing thinhs like upholstery, etc.
I went to Sams Warehouse and got a gallon of concentrated cleaner for about $ 8.00
Now I clean this stuff up whenever I want to without making all those car trips. And if you do it right it only takes about 3 hours for everything to dry.
