Need help with a bathroom faucet?
I thought it was the handle, not actually turning the hot water on, but don't think that is the problem. It will turn on, then make a "bump" like a water hammer sound, then the water stops flowing. Could that be the valve "thing" down inside the faucet that needs replaced or cleaned? It's the faucet that we use all of the time. Thankfully, we have a double vanity in the bathroom and just started using the other washbowl, but would like some advice, before my husband starts to fix it. We plan on changing all of the faucet handles on the double vanity. Just wondering what we will find, when we take that one faucet handle off. Thanks.

1) Turn main water supply off
2) Remove beauty cover over screw for handle
3) Remove screw holding handle
4) Remove handle
5) Remove valve from valve body by turning left (use proper wrench)
6) Turn valve over and remove seal on bottom of valve
7) Replace with new seal and reverse the above process.
This works on a great deal of faucets that exhibit the symptoms that you have described.

The answer to your question greatly depends on the brand and model of the product you are using, for example, knowing the manufacturer of your hot water faucet and call their toll free number to properly solve your issue. It would also depend how old your faucet is and if it is still under warranty, some factories will cover the warranty depending the issue of your faucet.
Anyway, knowing your faucet still heats up (if that's what you meant by it's turning on), and makes a water hummer sound then the water stops flowing might mean there could be something wrong with the valve:
Here are some tips you might wanna try:
Check to make sure the main water supply is turned on.
Check that the dispenser water supply valve (usually located under the sink) is fully opened.
Check that the dispenser water supply valve (usually located under the sink) is not plugged.
If a self-piercing saddle valve is used as the dispenser water supply valve, the copper water supply line may not have punctured fully. Close the saddle valve completely to puncture copper supply line. After turning valve in fully, open valve fully.
If a standard saddle valve is used as the dispenser water supply valve, be sure the correct diameter hole has been drilled into the supply line.
If the dispenser is connected to a filter, it may need to be replaced.
Debris or deposits in the dispenser may contribute to a slow water flow.
But remember, solving the issue on your faucet still depends on the kind of product you are using, still the best thing to do is to call the manufacturer of the product to better assist you with your concern:)
Hope this helps!

In most faucets there is a plastic piece that guides the handle to the on/off position inside the handle. Take the cover off (where it shows hot) under that cover is a screw to remove the handle unscrew it and take the handle off, youll see that plastic piece is most likely broke. Not a big deal you can buy that plastic piece. If not then replace the faucet lol. Just make sure the water is off when you replace the faucet, you have no idea how many people DO NOT turn off the water when the loosen the water lines to the faucet, BIG MESS lol. Good luck

This is plumber Miike......do you have a very old faucet that has a washer in it???? water hammer or a loud noise is usually from a bad washer or spring or o-rings sometime......go to :Lowe's and get a Kohler or Delta bathroom faucet and hook it up......they have washerless technology and your noise will disappear........
