How long is the I-130 process taking ? I received confirmation on January 29, 2008.?
I submitted valid marriage certificate and translation with government seal as required along with completed applications. The USCIS indicates that spouses and children should be process quicker.

I also applied for I-130 in January but a few years ago, and had my interview in December of the same year. It also depends on which State you are living in, at the time I applied, I was living in NYC, NY so it all depends, look up on their website, there is a timeline how long it takes them to process each individual application. You can also sign up with your email and get a notification about your case, but it didn't work for me.

It depends on the country you are living in and the backlog at the embassy. If a K3 is filed on your behalf by a US citizen it should be 9-12 months. If only the I-130 has been file by a US citizen it could be up to 18 months. If the petition was filed by a permanent resident it could take much longer.

Are you a citizen or a lawful permanent resident? It makes a difference in the processing time of an I-130.

Fred is right. when you file at the embassy, you meet face to face with the people handing the petition and the visa. In the US, your petition is thrown into the mix with many thousands of others. so, it can take up to a year to simply get your petition sent back to Panama. but the petition is valid for use the moment it's approved. at that point it goes to the National Visa Center for additional processing that takes several more months and then it's scheduled for interview in Panama.
