a question about family guy and our society?
ok so i realize that both the simpsons and family guy are cartoons and are meant to be funny. but one main thing they mention frequently is the fact that they are both lower middle class households. how can this be? this is one of those things that they always are serious about and it just got me curious. would they really be considered a lower middle class family in real life? lets take peter for example. 2 story, 4(or 5) bedroom, 2 bathroom house with a two car garage(with two cars in the family) a basement, attic, outside screened porch and a spacious front and back lawn. peter, brian, chris and maybe even meg all have a regular full or part time job, with lois teaching piano on the side as well. so am i just missing the joke here or is all that really what adds up to a modern middle class family? if it is, i feel a whole lot worse about my situation. haha.

yeha but u fail to realise the amount of money the family goes through, paying fuel, rent(or rates/mortgage) if the house is owned both families would ahve bought the houses when prices were lower
simpsons- bart getting into trouble, lots of things to pay for, homer wasting food, beer, lisas piano lessons, maggies baby needs(and nappys cost a LOT)
family guy- brian and peter drinking, chris eats a lot, stewis diapers(although hes breastfed so that would be cheaper) stewis diabolical plans to kill lois probably cost a lot of money in tinfoil(aliminium foil) and things to make lol
the list goes on for both of them
the normal lower class family would involve 3 or 4 kids, someitmes more, a fairly ok-ish house if their renting and possibly a pretty nice house if it was bought before prices went up lots, and maybe a pet and that is tall the families income
my husband is an officer in the royal australian air force, hes bringing in 1500 a week, which is considered a lot, we own our own house which is approx 300 a week, we now have twin daughters and when theyre big enough(premature) we will have them at home and wil be paying an extra 100 a week in nappies, we already pay 50 or so a week in pullups for chloe, 50 in drynites for the son of my late sister(im his guardian) who is now 6, daycare fees for chloe when im at work were 400 a week, then food is about 200, and about 400 in bills(approx) a week aswell
300+50+50+100+300+200+400=1400!! and that doesnt include other expenses like toys, savings, fuel etc.
living as a normal person costs a lot!
