'tis or 'taint?

Forgive my lack of knowledge, but I have never heard the area between called the "taint" until today. In what Country is that a common term and what is it derivation?

Update:

I'm old enough to have heard everything and live on the East Coast of the US. Maybe I run in the wrong circles (or the right ones:P)

Update 2:

Man! I am gettin' an ed-u-ca-shuuuun!?!?!?

It is a crude word for the area between the genitals and the anus. "It ain't the penis and it ain't the anus." Same goes for the females, just different nouns. Unfortunately, it is fairly popular here in the states. I'm not sure of it's true origin or if it is common in other areas.
