Scientology?

I'm confused.

I just read on the internet that Tom Cruise said that scientologists are the only people who can help after a car accident. This blatantly isn't true, but I'm wondering what he basis his statement on? What help would a scientologist be at a car accident?

Did I misquote him, and he actually said, scientologists are the only people who can help 'after people have recovered from a car accident'?

I'm honestly not trying to cause trouble, and I'd rather only have answers that are helpful, but cheers all the same.

Because he thinks only scientologists are the only pople on this planet that have the "authority" on helping people and therefor the only people who can help someone in a car accident, meaning no one else would know what they're doing...not even a doctor. In short it means he as well as anyone else who believes that crap are freaking delusional and should just shut the "f" up.

Wow!! With all these thumbs down to so many questions leads me to think that some scientologists have been aloud to take there net nanny's off their computers ! ! ! (LOL)

Source(s): Thetaalways: I think it's pretty obvious that the video was edited. Anyone can see that. The thing is though, the words came out of his mouth. When he says things like "we are the authority on the mind, we are the authority on...blah blah blah....he still said those words and he meant what he said. I don't care how much the video was edited, the fact remains is that he said that stuff. And for that he and scientology look like a bunch of overconfident goof balls.

I can see why you're confused. That video was an acceptance speech for a Humanitarian Award Tom received in 2004 from the Church of Scientology. It was part of a 3 hour event and his speech was included and sent to Churches all over the world. It has copyright. Someone stole it from a Church, chopped up his 20 minute + speech into about 9 minutes (including cutting out words) and put a Mission Impossible track on it.

Yes, Scientology has assist technology that helps the being deal with any injuries better. It works as I can personally attest.

Here's a booklet with the procedures in it that you can read for free and can even apply!:

    http://www.scientologyhandbook.org/SH6.HTM

Scientology is very clear in it's policies that we don't replace any doctor in physical healing. We handle the psychosomatic aspect of illness, after thorough medical treatment is done. In the case of an accident, if we were first on the scene, we could administer the assist technology and help him spiritually. There are documented case histories where this technology has healed a person completely. Is that so strange since there are also documented cases of people being healed throught the laying on of hands, even prior to Scientology?

What do you think the purpose was for chopping up that video? Or even posting it to YouTube?

    Jett Girl

Your statement can be disproven the second you do a search here in Y A on "scientology scientologist". None of those got "removed". What is YOUR purpose for stirring up dissension? If a question violates Y A rules anyone can report it. If enough report it, it gets removed.

Holly and Zero, how can you say he actually said it when the video you saw was edited and chopped by about 2 hours and 51 minutes? Janeinla is correct. You can see the original in FULL at any Church or Mission

Hello! Actually the answers by thetaalways and janeinla pretty well answer the question for you.

The fact is there are some unscrupulous people out there who for their own vested reasons attempt to attack and pervert a very able and helpful being. This is not uncommon...name anyone who has made it big in showbiz and they have had their share of attacks. Scientologists are always willing helpers when it comes to disaster relief and accidents and very much work with the doctors, medical personell present in such a case.

To give an example of how words can be edited please observe that the words in the sentence below were all taken from the posting by "Sister72" and are even not out of sequence, just edited. Of course the resulting sentence does not represent my own views but is merely a partial view of "Sister72" posting when edited.

    Here it is:

Sister 72: "I think it's pretty obvious I look like a bunch of overconfident goof balls."

Scientologists can give what we call "Scientology assists" which can help with spiritual trauma immediately following an accident.

In the context in which Cruise was speaking - to a group of Scientologists who are all very familiar with this technology - it makes sense.

But I can see your confusion. If someone is hurt in a car accident, certainly many people can - and do - help. Including paramedics, fire fighters, and just plain old good citizens.

As for the Tom Cruise video, please note that the video was edited - I think you'd have to watch the actual film to see it all in context. You can do that, by the way, at any Scientology church - it's not secret at all.

The assist technology is a special thing, and it's very, very useful. There are even special assists to give a person after a car accident.

You can read about some assists here:

    http://www.scientologyhandbook.org/SH6.HTM

Following the World Trade Center disaster, Scientology Volunteer Ministers arrived, helping with many things, including by giving these assists. Their help was so appreciated that after the fire fighters and the Red Cross left, the military asked the VMs to come back - it was the assists that were so needed, as they bring about a peace of mind during very difficult times!

Let me give an actual example of how assists can help--

I have a friend whose daughter was crossing the street and was hit by a car. She was thrown into the air, dropped onto the pavement, and was unconscious. People around her started to freak out. A nurse was there, but there was nothing she could do. This little girl was lying on the pavement, out like a light.

    The paramedics were called.

While waiting for their arrival, the girl's mother began giving her an assist for an unconscious person. Within a few minutes, the girl regained consciousness, sat up, looked around, and spoke. She then stood up and was FINE!

Now, Scientology isn't there to produce miracles like this - it's not the purpose - but when a bad accident occurs, people can be very emotionally and spiritually upset. The assist technology helps the person SPIRITUALLY.

This is why after the tsunami a few years ago, even Buddhist monks were learning Scientology assist technology - because it helps the person spiritually following a traumatic experience.

I have 7 kids - my husband gives me an assist when I'm in labor called "Locational Processing" and I've had nurses and doctors comment on how well it seems to work - and they asked me to explain it. Because I had natural childbirth with no pain killers and that assist really does help!

Lots and lots of people offer help to others - and I would in no way negate that help.

I think Tom Cruise just meant that we have something to offer that no one else does.

I'd also like to point out that he DOESN'T drive on past accidents. He helped a guy he saw hurt in a car wreck, and he not only stopped to help this stranger, but when he found out the man didn't have insurance, Tom PAID HIS MEDICAL BILLS. This was not an accident he was personally involved in - he just really likes to help people.

He and Nicole rescued a couple whose boat sunk once - I think in general, Tom is the sort of person who would stop to help a stranger.

Interesting. People who speak against Scientology never actually read any of the books written by L. Ron Hubbard. It is like walking around talking that nuclear physics is stupid without even knowing what an atom is.

Going to web sites of Scientology critics to find information on Scientology is equally intelligent as asking Neo-nazi for his opinion on Jews.

You don't have to be Scientologist if you don't want and this is totally OK. But don't attack it after reading few stupid web sites about some Xenu and other nonsense.

Scientology have effective ways how to really help individual, how to help individual become more able and intelligent and how to heal its own body.

I know this from experience. I was suffering for 12 years from allergies and asthma despite tons of medications I was taking, After just a few hours of Dianetics session my asthma and allergies were simply gone and never came back.

The purpose of Scientology or Dianetics is not physical healing, but psychosomatic illnesses can disappear when person advance spiritually and mentally.

It think it's funny that Jett Girl said this it actually made me laugh, "How long before the Scientology agents monitoring this forum have this Question deleted? Any criticism of their "religion" is suppressed and questions like this mysteriously dissapear from Yahoo! Answers."

It's funny how people like Zero Cool and her many malicious, outright intolorant attacks on Scientology NEVER get deleted! Her answer show, most of the time, a complete disrepectful intoloerance of Scientology but I will give her this there are a few times I've noticed that's she's toned her answers down quite a bit. But again I'd say more than 70% of the time it's pretty gnarly.

I think YA will delete any question that shows intoloerance for ANY religion. I think if some one said, "It's really true that Christians suck and believe that the Devil is holier than God" An obviously untrue statement that would piss off any Christian. This would probably get deleted as it is ment to intice others.

So I think that's it's posible that maybe your asking your question about Scientology to intice us or others and they happen to get deleted on the basis that it's RELIGIOUS INTOLERANCE.

    Cheers! :)

    Dear Confused

Of course it's not true!! And of course he did not really say that.

This is misquoted from a private interview that he made for his fellow members of the International Association of Scientologists after receiving a highly prestigious award for his humanitarian activities from this Association.

This interview was at least 20 minutes long and I watched the orginal interview at my Church. It was sent to all Scientology Churches because Mr Cruise wanted to share his personal success and help inspire his fellow parishoners to similar actions. There have been many other worthy recipients of this award who also do this within our Church.

This video interview was stolen by someone and chopped up , edited and altered and added to, (background music), and dumped onto You Tube with the purpose of making Tom Cruise and the Chuch of Scientology appear strange and alarming. So as to fire the ongoing campaign of attack and ridicule against my religion.

The internet is currently a major source of disinformation and outright lies and falsified information about Scientology.

What he's talking about is specific spiritual assistance. A trained Scientology minister knows what he means. He is not invalidating immediate necessary physical and medical emergency help or suggesting that Scientology Minstering would replace this help in anyway.

Scientology is a applied religious practice .

Ask the New York police and Fire Department how Scientology Volunteer Ministers helped during 9/11 and specifically what Tom Cruise did to help them recover from the devasting effects to their own lives, from their very valuable and heroic emergency help.

This might give you a better understanding of what he is talking about.

This was deliberately shown out of all context and was his private communication to fellow Scientologist , not a public statement or media interview.

Makes you wonder whose really trying to cause trouble and why..............

  • 1 decade ago

I saw that video. Actually, what he's saying is that the person who comes across the accident is the only person available to help. According to Mr. Tom Cruise, if a scientologist came across the accident, he would be obligated to help that person.

  • 1 decade ago

I don't know what he meant either but here's a link to the transcript

    http://www.rapideyereality.com/labels/Tom%20Cruise...

This is what he actually said:

"Being a Scientologist, when you drive past an accident, it’s not like anyone else. As you drive past, you know you have to do something about it, because you know you’re the only one that can really help."

  • 1 decade ago

I think he meant no scientologist would drive by without helping.

What he meant by the other blabber in that video I'll never know.
