It was The Raccoons!
I don't think he was called Syde - I think it was Ceryl Sneer.
I think it was a Canada-made cartoon in the late eighties.
I remember who made it, some guy called Kevin Gillis.

Yeah it was the racoons! There's pigs in it too, they were the cyrils nephews i think. I used to love that cartoon.
