how long does it take hyacinths to flower after leaves appear?
leaves are on my hyacinth plant approximately a month now, but no sign of a flower bud appearing, Is it too late now? Leaves are appox 8inches long

If the leaves are 8" already, you likely won't see them bloom this year. It could be they were planted too deep or too shallow. Let the leaves grow and do NOT cut them off until they turn brown. The leaves THIS season feed the bulb to bloom for NEXT season. Once it is brown you can cut it off and dig it up and replant in the fall.

Are they in pots or in the ground?
If in pots did you keep the bulbs in the fridge for a couple of weeks? They need to be cold before potting like in nature
Either way I don't think you are going to see and flowers this year.
