Not at all... Just dress it up with some sparkly, dangly earrings, and some bright gold shoes. Don't go all out on the hair and do this huge up-do... Be sure to keep it simple and you'll look completely classy. Good Luck :-)

no its not and some people dont like or want to overdress and buy a dress for one night it will be great just make sure to accessorise

accessories, i dont see why you couldnt wear it to prom.
