Heart problems run in my family so I was wondering about an EKG & other types of tests that can be done?
My mother died of heart disease at 57 yrs. young. Don't know all of the complications because she trashed the dr. bills so we couldn't see everything. My daddy just had a heart attack Thursday morning. He had a 100% blockage in his right coronary artery. They put a stint in & he is doing good. He got to come home yesterday. I have a lot of chest pains that I think are due to stress. They do EKGs & everything is normal. What other types of tests can they do that might show up heart problems since I am prone to them?

Echo Cardiogram, Thallium Stress test, Treadmill stress test, Cardiac Arteriogram, Cardiac Enzyme levels are among a few. Basic tests that can be pre-indicators of Coronary Disease are elevated lipids/cholesterol because plaque build up can cause occlusions in arteries, elevated blood pressure may also indicate blockages and stress on the heart muscle. Chest pain should be taken seriously and investigated promptly.

Hi
Firstly, I'm sorry about your mother's death and your father's heart attack but I hope he makes a speedy recovery.
Please, don't take for granted that doctors and cardiologists are telling you the truth and that they know better.
I researched this a lot as I had chest pains and was very worried, which all started shortly after my friend who was 34 dies of a heart attack.
go to www.heartattackproof.com and read the site in it's entirety. It's mind blowing that this guy and others have all the answers to this horrible disease and yet it's not being told to sufferers and there is a strong belief that it's all down to the amount of money being made by cardiologists and pharmaceutical corps.

Hope all goes well for you and your dad.

First - glad your dad is doing better.
As for you...if you are really worried about it...lots of places (especially in big cities) have "heart scan" machines available...less than $200 gets you a pretty good breakdown of what's up.
