Why did Muhammad and the Qur’an make the error of saying that Mary was part of the Christian Trinity?
Did Allah make a mistake?
http://www.bible.ca/islam/islam-bible-koran-errors...
No offense to anyone, but it would appear that Allah mislead Muhammad about basic Christian theology and/or Church history. Why would an all knowing god make that mistake?
This is a serious question. No stupid answers attacking the Bible, but making no attempt to explain an apparent serious error in Muhammad’s teachings, please. I know a cheap dodge when I see one. Thanks.

In fact one of the christian sect believed that Mary was part of trinity. However, that group is extinct now.
However, read this.
"Allah will say, "O Jesus, son of Mary, did you say to the people,
`Make me and my mother idols beside Allah?'
This verse does not state that the trinity consists of Mary Jesus and
the Holy Spirit.
It simply says God will ask Jesus if he claimed that he and his mother
were gods.

The Koran has never said that Mary was part of a Christian Trinity. The Trinity is an invention of the Roman Catholic Church which formulated it at the council of Nicea.
The whole concept of worshipping Mary is also an invention of the R C church to strengthen the infallibility bf the Pope.
Mary was a temple virgin in the Jewish world. In the translation of the Hebrew word for virgin,Almah, the actual meaning was lost.It does not mean a virgin with hymen intact but a spirited young girl.
Jesus said in the Pistis Sophia a gnostic tract banned by the Church the following,my earthly mother gave me death but my true mother gave me life.
In the Koran Jesus is a prophet and what it does say is that Mary sat under a tree to give birth to him and not in a stable as popularily is imagined.
The Christian explanations are seriously flawed in particular by Augustine and his ilk with their hatred of the female.

Mohammed did not claim that Mary was part of the Trinity, but only chastised Christians for venerating Mary, much the same way Protestants do today.
Mohammed was familiar with the doctrine of the Trinity, and opposed it. The website you linked to merely misunderstands Mohammeds meaning, as the verses from the Koran they quote do not claim Mary to be part of the Trinity.

O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no morethan) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His messengers. Say not"Trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah: Glory beto Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things inthe heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs. Verse: 171 Ch: 4

Muslims don't even believe in the trinity...and Mary has been worshipped by some catholics.
Anyways, I can't believe you actually think anything on that site is legit information....Don't you think it is at all biased? It's a christian site made specifically to attack Islam...why are we such a threat to you guys?

As soon as I got to the statement of "Thanks to Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches, continuing trend towards the worship of Mary that is in full bloom today, ", I stopped reading this piece of trash.

in the sixth and seventh centuries AD, the roman church was widespread into mariolatry which in return has muhammed mocking the church with ideas that were untrue.
Mary was never divine to any church. It is still wrong to venerate her.
