Social Security?

My sister turn 62 last year December, She is going to apply for her social security next month in March, How long will it take for her to get her first check, anyone know, we were told by a friend about 6 month, do you know if this is true.

    If my wife's experience serves as an example, six months sounds about right. I have not yet applied because I still work full time. Be sure to ask your sister to apply as early as the law allows.

    I will say that at 65 I got my Medicare card just before my 65th birthday.
