Hildale, Utah and Colorado City, Arizona?

Yes! My husband is a delivery driver in Southern Utah, and when he goes there to deliver, they hardly talk to you, and it's hard to find the houses because there aren't any street signs. I've driven through there, and most of the houses aren't finished because of tax reasons. I run into them at the supermarket, and some of them will not talk to you, but for the most part they are nice people...just different. One time in line at the supermarket, my baby was smiling at a polygamist family...and the father was like "Don't mind us, we're just the freaks!" and was being nice to my baby. They are taught however that outsiders are evil, so they try not to talk to you at all....and are very distant.

The last time I was in Colorado City was when I was about ten. My great-aunt and her husband live there and we were visiting for the day. I don't remember seeing many people, but that was 15 years ago. Things have changed a lot since then.

My great-uncle passed away last year and my parents went down there for the funeral. They were treated fine, despite the fact they are not members of that group, nor have they ever been. People talked to them and they were welcomed. However, there are the people who really do think they shouldn't associate with outsiders and they tell them to get out of town. That didn't happen with my parents, but it does happen. At least on the news it does...who knows? They just might treat people with cameras that way.
