Traveling to Russia?

Me and a few friends are interested in traveling to Russia as a senior trip (summer of 2010). Unfortunately, we're all quite inexperienced when it comes to international travel. I'm picturing horror stories (getting separated, losing luggage, etc.) Any help is appreciated, preferably prices, links, descriptions, what to know, dos and don'ts, etc. I'll pick answers based on quality, not speed, for those of you who care about that sort of thing.

Dude, do not go to Russia for a senior trip. First off, I don't see what would be there for a senior trip anyways, but Americans are not very well respected there and I think for the price and stuff of going there won't be worth it in the end. I don't mean to sound like a douche but I've heard more negative than positive things about Russia when it comes to Americans going over there.

This is not the place to cut your teeth on international travel. If you want to experience something cool, go with "Russia lite" type places like Czech or Poland.

I agree with GoBuckey. If you speak fluent Russian or with somebody who does than I would say go for it. Otherwise I wouldn't go. There are some many scams that people will try to play on you. Sure there many be things in english but that doesn't mean that anybody will be nice to you. Russian's are known for not being nice when you don't know them.
