i have read a few books all with promises similar to lord of the rings but none really measured up
question who won the batlle contest gimli or legolas
and when the battle was fought on the plains with the riders of rohan and the king died who was with him and what was his name..

Gimli and Legolas decided to call it quits seeing as they had become good friends and it was Eowyn, King Theoden's neice who was with him when he popped it.

Lord of the Rings ftw. Star Wars just fails in comparison, and it has bad acting!!!!!! Peter Jackson is so much better than whoever directs Star Wars

I have not read the books and only seen the movie once. I can't help you with any of the lord of the ring stuff but I can stop by and give you a hug. Love, honey

Legolas won the battle - he had arrows, and Gimli was using an axe. It wasn't fair from the beginning.
I want to say the king who died was Eomer.
On a side note, did you read the Hobbit? it's not as good once you've read LOTR, but at the time that I read it, it was the best book I had ever read.
