Air Soft , BB guns?
Who else agrees Yahoo should create a special category for these toys? This is a Hunting Forum and i'm sick of weeding through all the damn airsoft crap, nothing personal, just want you guys to have your own section as Airsoft , paint ball and bb guns are not for Hunting, Just looking for other opinions.
This is no way meant to discourage future hunters at all..
This is not meant to offend anyone, i'm sure airsoft and paintballing are both quiet fun, I just don't see where they pertain to hunting and believe that they should have their own category. I sure the majority of them wood agree also.
And yeah I also agree with BB and pellet rifles being considered hunting weapons as I too have taken many a squirell with my old benjy, so I should have worded this a little different.

Personally, i think BB guns are acceptable in the hunting section, because i have done far more "hunting" with my BB gun when i was younger, than i have done with my revolver, the SKS i owned, or even my muzzle loader. The BB gun is fair game for hunting birds from trees (we had flickers pecking holes in our house, that i was given permission to declare a genocide upon, and thus removed their population from our area in the country) and while it maybe is more designed and inclined towards target practice and plinking, that's all i really do with my Varmit rifles (i have yet to take them on their first hunting trip).
I agree that paintball and airsoft should be in a seperate category, as they share very little in common with hunting. A BB gun gives kids a very safe introduction to the dangers of hunting, whereas airsoft and paintball teach kids that guns are toys to be fired recklessly, reinforcing Rambo behaviors such as reckless shooting, or even making them wish to modify their firearms into full auto, in the case of AK's and SKS's, where it's dangerously easy.
Now i should point out, i am as much into paintball as i am into hunting, so i have fair grounds to speak when i say the two should not share a common forum. Running around shooting at your friends with an automatic weapon has nothing to do with sighting in a rifle and picking which caliber to use for elk.
My opinion is that they should create a category for "Paintball and Airsoft" because despite what hardliners in one or the other say, they are dang near identical, as i play BOTH of them. The only difference is the weapons are a different caliber, and airsoft relies on the honor system more for registering when somebody has been hit. THATS IT. Just because the make of the guns are slightly different doesn't mean they can't share the same forum, when they're already sharing the same purpose. If you disagree, then what, next we need seperate forums within that for the similarly different Tippmann and Spyder guns? Group it as one, it's all the same stuff really.
For right now, all we can do is simply always tell these kids that General - Outdoors & Recreation is the place they're supposed to be posting these questions, because their guns cannot be used for hunting.
EDIT: Of course, if Yahoo DID create a "Paintball & Airsoft" section here on yahoo, i have a bad feeling that many people from the hunting section would seek revenge for all these years of paintball and airsoft questions in the hunting forum, by relentless trolling of THEIR section now! Oh that would be so fun! Ahem... not that I would do such a thing or condone it...

I agree and disagree. Are some of the air soft people going to be hunters latter. I put a suggestion in 2 weeks ago. But it was for all shooting.Let hunting questions come but do not discourage future hunters!
Source(s): Sorry but my kids shoot air soft and BB guns. If we do not go out some where to shoot their .22's we shot their toys at the house. They shot bows at the house with us 2 to 3 times a week. Just makes me mad when someone says they are not welcome in the hunting section. - Anonymous5 years ago
NO airsoft pellets are plastic and around 6mm in size.... BBs are metal and around 4.5 mm in size

i believe that it would be a fantastic idea, if they had a forum, for those guns.
the questions that are generally asked by the people that use those guns, have NOTHING to do with hunting, but are mostly about modifying the guns, silencers & WILL IT HURT SOMEONE IF I SHOOT THEM WITH MY GUN.
RIGHT or WRONG, thai is my opinion
