Please Help! I had Microsoft office 2000 and downloaded a free trial version of MS Office 2007?

The free trial has now run out so I removed it but now my ms office 2000 is gone. Does this mean that it just converted my MSO 2000 and now that I have uninstalled it it's gone?? Please help.

If you opened documents created using Office-2000 and converted them to the Office-2007 format then you should still be able to read them but not amend them. Effectively once you have converted old documents you can't really use Office-2000 anymore, even if you re-install Office-2000, except as read-only documents.

Unless you are willing to buy a new version of Office then you might want to consider getting Open Office which can open MS Office documents and is more up-to-date than Office-2000.

Unless you installed it and requested that it install to another path, or not update your earlier version, you will have lost it unless of course you have the CD for 2000. Why not just buy 2007, the basic version is under £100 for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote - well worth the money. If you need Publisher and Access and of course Enterprise (which was formerly FrontPage) the cost would be around £500 mark. I think again well worth the money but no doubt others will tell you to download free OpenOffice.

Don't panic. You're still using 2000? Try getting something more recent. 2000 is almost a decade old; just move on to 2004 or 2007 if you can put up with all the crashing...

you will have to install office 2003 to open that file. office 2007 will not open an old version document.

it has just combined few features but if u uninstall it the older version remains or if unless at the time of installing the new one it asked u to uninstall the other which i don think so coz i had the same story lately

there should still be an installation of MSO 2k in your add/remove programs cpl. you should be able to click on this entry then choose the repair option and it should find it all again, of course this may ask for the disc's as well.
