Is there a Bible verse for this?

"If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it is yours. If it doesn't, it never was." Is there a Bible verse to this effect, or is this just a saying made up over the years.

    Hello.. :)

I am in agreement with others here..it is a old saying..

    But Jesus did say this:

    John 8

36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

    In Jesus Most Precious Name..

    With ~Love~ In Christ.. :)

I may be wrong but I don't believe there is one.

What does come to mind is the story of the prodigal son. He wanted to leave home, so he asked his father for whatever wealth he was due and went his merry way. When life had knocked him around enough and he ended up in a pig sty eating slop, he decided to return to his father's house, where he was met with the same love and affection he did not feel he needed before.

While it might be a reasonable statement, it is not a Bible verse. Just an old saying.

I've never read it in the bible, but saw something like that on a T shirt. If you love something, set it free. If it doesn't come back to you, hunt it down and kill it.

I know of no bible verse that can be thus paraphrased. In a sense though, that is the message of all of Scripture. The Creator loved us so much that He created us free, though it cost Him His life to create the path that we could return to Him.

Actually ist a famous quote. I did not find anything like that. I might be wrong too.

Galatians 5-651For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son etc. God loves us enough to set us free to make our own decision to love Him and come back or if we don't, we never were His.

If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it was, and always will be yours. If it never returns, it was never yours to begin with.
