My baby seems to be always eating. Is she getting enough?
My daught will be 4 months old next week and at the moment she wants to eat all the time. I breast feed and she eats at 8am and then wants to eat again an hour later. Yesterday I had to feed her every hour and half. She started like this last week and I'm worried that she may not be getting enough. She was a small baby when she was born (5.5 pounds) and now weighs 14.3. Any advice would be great as she starts nursery this week and I'm worried about how much food to leave her.

Four months is a prime growth spurt time so this is normal for them to be extra hungry and she may be sleepier than usual.I wouldn't worry at all at 4 moths a baby is supposed to have atleast doubled thier birth weight but your daughter has exceeded that so she must be fine:)

A child should be fed every 1 1/2 or 2 hours. Dont worry its natural for her to eat well. U should be happy that she is eating...in time her food quantity will reduce so feed her well now this is very necessary for her growth process...feed her plenty of iodine it will help her in her growth both mentally n physically...best of luck.

Sounds as if she is going through, or preparing to go through a growth spurt..and at her age she may be ready to try a little baby rice, ask your midwife about this..you start of with barely a spoonful of the stuff, and it makes a real difference to the baby's level of hunger besides giving your body a chance to catch up with her demands on it.

She is probably having another growth spurt, I'd give the nursery extra milk just in case.

You can always give her a bit of cereal. I was giving my little one cereal at 4 months. But my doctor also said it was OK. See mine was taking 8oz bottle every 4 hours starting at 6:30 in the morning. She was hungry so we started her on cereal then fruits and veggies.

That sounds normal! Four months is a classic time for a growth spurt.

Why dont you start weaning her.I know they say 6 months but if she is ready then why not just try her on some baby rice or rusks?
Source(s): My baby is nearly 4 months also so we have starting weaning her as she was the same and she seems much more satisfied now. - maggie maeLv 41 decade ago
