Why are there no ski areas out Hwy 285 in Colorado?

75% of the Colorado ski resorts seem to be located near I-70. Is the snow not very good along Hwy 285? Is this an arid area of the rockies and all the snow dumped on the other side?

PS I am not from Colorado.

because there arent mountains by 285, and even if there are mountains, there has to be enough snowfall fir there to be a ski resort

Not all of Colorado is mountains. Denver proper is actually pretty flat as are its suburbs. That line of cities down I-25 is more or less where you start going from plains to mountains. It's usually called the "Front Range." But the Parks area south of Denver along 285 is not mountainous.

Hwy 285 is not good for skiing. It's usually got a lot of salt and sand mixed into it to keep cars from slipping and sliding. I recomend you ski on the slopes.

they figured the snow area would do better on the mountains, not on the highways...
