Anyone used Tricare's continued health coverage plan?

Well, I just found out I'm pregnant and my baby is due on my husband's EAS date. So, we're freaking out b/c we won't have anymore Tricare insurance. Has anyone purchased their continued coverage plan? Did you like it? Is it expensive and how much out of pocket will I have to pay for delivery?

Hey, I'm currently on Tricare's Continued Health Coverage Plan but I haven't had my baby yet. For myself to continue on an individual plan, its 900 and change, I've forgotten exactly how much but less than $1000 for each quarter that you want to be extended (a quarter being three months). If you want, send me your email address and after I give birth I can give you more information on how much I will have to pay out of pocket. The thing is that it doesn't cover the baby's hospital expenses for me. I'm a dependent, it was my father who was in the military, so it doesn't go down to my child. I'm not sure what your exact situation is, but if your child cannot be enrolled in DEERS, then your child will not be covered by the Continued Plan either and baby's hospital bills will be out of pocket. (This is what I was told by the Customer Service lady).

If you have a Tricare Standard plan as of now, the coverage is very similar. I had a Tricare Prime plan so it's a little different, but still acceptable.

Anyways, I'm due March 21st, so it shouldn't be that long on the rest of the information. My email is alymb03@yahoo.com if you want it.

Oh yeah, I recently heard a story similar to yours where the woman's health insurance expired like two days after the due date, so the doctor actually induced her on her due date in order to help her out. Maybe your doctor would do the same? Just one day before your due date and the baby should be fully developed, so it's not really a health risk.
