Is it just me, or is there something about women that are in their forties that drink vodka?

You can't seem to convince them that they have any faults because it's never theirs---granted that there are a lot of people that can relate whether they drink or not---but especially middle aged ladies that only drink vodka.

Hey, I take this as being a tiny bit prejudiced against that age group. As most of the answers have as well.

Man, you must be hanging out or meeting with the wrong women. Find some one that has a life besides the bottle.

I find that the women I know, me included, seldom drink at all.

If and when we do, it may be a glass of wine at a special dinner or a wine cooler...

Do not judge all by those who you meet.

its called Alcoholism and its actually a disease in the brain, not just middle aged women get it, both my parents are alcoholic and it causes horrible problems obviously for their health but also childrens mental health e.g. little or no self esteem, self harming behaviour, low communication skills etc.

Alcoholics will not always admit their problem, acknowledging it is the first step to recovering from the problem, if they are in denial then no one ca help them, not until they admit they have a problem, it is an addiction!

My parents are also toxic, my mother will not except that she made us feel horrible as children and put her problems and faults on us, read Toxic Parents to find more about growing up with that hell, it's such a subtle behaviour and because they are your parents you learn to blame yourseld, after all your parents are all you have as a child so if they are bad you learn to blame yourself and become the one in the wrong, and they wont give up tellin you that you are the problem.

Trust me it's the worst thing that can happen to someone because you can never get back or escape your childhood and it's effects...........

Source(s): seriously the emotions that swing round my head even now are huge....luckily i have learnt about my parents and alcoholism and abuse, toxic parents etc and can begin to recover but some arent so lucky. :-( good luck to any of you that have been thru this or if you have alcohol problems and are tryin to recover, good luck and well done for being so strong!!

It's not just you. Read the answers and you will find other fools in this world. Some even agree that people in their 40s are middle-aged.

Do these women find themselves faultless only when drinking? If so, maybe the booze is to blame! If not... well, I guess I've got that to look forward to when I hit my forties?

Almost anybody who is drinking excessively will not admit fault.
