Why do McCain, Obama, and Clinton all have an open border stance?

I think the illegal immigrant problem has gone way too far. They are an unneeded strain on our society. I don't know who to vote for in Nov. because the three of them are waving them all in. I am really a Ron Paul supporter, and I wish he could be the next president, but it looks doubtful that he will be on the ballot. Who should I vote for?

There is a huge Mexican immigrant population in the United States. The legal immigrants can vote, and often do. The illegal immigrants often can vote, due to some particularly lax laws in certain areas.

It would be political suicide to demand greater enforcement of the border laws before being elected.

If you're more concerned about economic laws, vote for McCain. If you're more concerned about social laws, vote for Obama. Plenty of Ron Paul supporters are just going to write his name in on the ballot regardless, so if all the other candidates are unbearable, do that.

If you look at their web sites, none of them have an "open border" stance. That would be political suicide as 72% of the population wants the border closed. I think the true issue here is which cnadidate will be more likely to "get the message" and actually close the border? Look at the way Hispanics in Texas voted. Obviously they feel she will give them buisness as usual. Obama, opposed NAFTA but under the table told the Canadiens that it would be buisness as usual. Of the three, only McCaine has tried to do something about the issue and it was rejected for obvious reason. Even democrats want the border closed. Maybe McCaine got the point. In my opinion, if that is an issue for you, I would choose McCaine. Some will tell you how liberal the man is. That may not be a bad thing. Since when do we oppose compromise. If not McCaine then Obama. However, with Hillary you get the policy of the 90s. Do you want that? Make a choice.

They don't. In fact, only Clinton has said that she believes in a truly open border.

McCain has suggested he wants to put a wall up on the border then force all the illegals to either pay penalties for back taxes, go to English classes, and go to classes for integration or be shipped back over the then fortified border.

Obama, to my knowledge, does not have a stance, or has not expressed it loudly.

I understand that you support a certain candidate, but before making a question like this, please do your research. A better question would have been DO McCain, Obama and Clinton have an open border stance. The way you stated it says that you think that all of them have an open border stance, which just isn't true.

The reason they have an open border stance is because it is impossible to control our borders. One need only look at how well we control illegal drugs. Why alienate Mexico and get no results by constructing a fence?

At some point all of this is going to even out. Mexicans want to live in Mexico because they have family and community connections there. As Mexico develops, the pay rate will improve enough that the difference won't matter enough to attract more illegals.

Registration of illegals in the form of citizenship or temporary citizenship is a good idea, because we will know who we have in our country. There are other discussed options like registering them as foreign workers and making them carry an ID card that is difficult to forge. This way there would be enough foreign workers to satisfy the companies interested in employing them and non-documented workers would hopefully be out of luck. Large fines would be levied.

There is another solution that would improve things and that would be to develop American retirement housing in Mexico. In this situation, retired Americans who couldn't afford to live here would be bringing their money into Mexico and boosting that economy and encouraging Mexicans to stay in their own country.

Don't be a single issue voter and evaluate the candidates on the other issues.

You have to way up the best for the country. I think people forget about the economy if we didnt have alot of these immigrants working I know it shouldnt be illegal but our economy would be worse if thats possible and we should really aim to come to some arrangement with joining countries government in how to process these people I think it has to be completely revamped and no wall is ever going to stop immigrants coming you have to remember your heritage at one time was an immigrant unless your are native indian. Immigration to this country is what it was formed on and not all were legal. I think clinton for 2 reasons I think she is able to communicate with other countries with diplomacy and is no soft touch McCain to me is out of touch with whats going on and Ron Paul has some good policies but he wont be the next president. Obama crumbled after 1 week bad press and questions. Good luck

McCain is the least of the evils. Ron Paul has the best agenda, but someone with the right answers is not electable by the masses. As for the immigrant problem, McCain believes the USA has always had open doors to people who come here legally, he will work to make it happen legally. That is consistent with American policy.

I'm all for open borders but them need to learn English at a 6th grade level before comming here. They all want the Hispanic vote thats why none our tough on immigration. Clinton supports the North American Union, where Canada US and Mexico all become 1.

You don't need them to make the right decision. States have the power to control their own boarders and make their own restrictions. In my state sweeping immigration laws are being passed by the hour so if they cross the border they wont stay in my state. Illegal immigration will soon be treated like Prostitution in Nevada. If you want it go get it somewhere else.

I am republican.... a couple of weeks back I heard McCain say that he has 'heard the people' about illegal immigration. I do believe he has changed on this. If not I will be at the boarder & shoot 'em myself!
