Edelbrock Performer HI-TORQ 9.0:1 - Chevy 350 Engine?
I just purchased one of these crate engines and I'm currently putting all the fittings, parts, bells and whistles on it. The main question I have is: There are 2 open ports on the water pump. There is one on the left side that is for the heater hose. There is another one on the top of the water pump that I believe can be plugged off, however there is a threaded hole in the front of the intake manifold that is the same size as the holes on the water pump. This leads me to think that I am not supposed to plug those holes but instead install the water inlet fittings and run a 5/8" hose there. Has anyone ever dealt with this before? Do I need to put the fittings and hose or can I plug them off?
I forgot to mention that there is another water inlet/outlet port on the top of the intake near the thermostat housing like normal. This is where the other heater hose is going to go. Not sure if this makes any difference to the question that I am asking but I figured I'd mention it.
I got the answer from Edelbrock -- .
"Just plug the port on the water pump and the front of the manifold, this block has a internal bypass."
Just figured I'd let everyone know for future reference.

Thats probably the bypass hose.. this allows the water to flow back into the engine when the thermostat is closed. dont plug it!!!!

One hole on the water pump is for the heater hose as well as one hole on the intake the other hole on the intake is for tempature guages the aditional hole on the water pump is there for an extra temp outlet or if you want to plumb a set of aftermarket alum. heads for additional cooling if not just stick a plug in it...It probally isnt a stock style water pump its morethan likely a universal high flow setup

If it is a smogger engine the hole near the thermostat housing is probobly for the "thermal vaccuum switch". If your not smogging it you can plug it.
